This nastie highjacks the winsock pointers. Trying to remove it without the proper winsock repair will put the winsock out of business, result: internet connection will no longer be possible.

only SpyBot S&D (updated!) can handle this one properly. Those who have been using a different cleaning software (and lost their winsock as a result) are advized to download a fix to repair the winsock over on Bill's site:

    http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

Finally: avoid problems as mentioned above - use Spybot S&D (at least for now) in order to scan for/ditch spyware.

    regards.

One can't stress enough the importance of updating the program before removing anything.
As for Ad-Aware, it's use should be limited to scanning only until version 6.0 is issued as it's seriously outdated until then.

According to Mike from SpywareInfo, HijackThis can also repair the damage caused by the new version of this nasty.

It should also be noted that SpywareBlaster can prevent the installation of this version from any webpage.

The developer of Aluria Spyware Eliminator says ASE should be updated for it by Friday.

I haven't heard from anyone else.
