    I have a hard drive that has a screwed up MBR. Hard disk 8.0 will not work and neither will restore or boot corrector. I can get command line to work but I don't know the commands to use. I can see the two partitions and need to restore from files on one partition to the other partition. I am using XP with all the updates.

    There's a couple of methods to update the MBR:

    If you're in the boot media, locate either the basic hard disk 0, right-click and "Update MBR" or in one of the drop down menus.

    If you have a Windows CD, you can use the fixboot and fixmbr commands in the recovery console:
