This is just a heads-up to let Process Guard users know that we'll be releasing the FINAL PUBLIC BETA of PG v3 tomorrow (Thursday 30th). Many user requests since the first public beta have been implemented, the interface is a lot slicker, all reported bugs were fixed, and the build in general is quite solid and just about ready for full public release as-is (although the helpfile won't be included until the first full public release).

Please note that again this beta release will only be available to licensed Process Guard users, so if you aren't yet registered there has never been a better time! See here for details, and we look forward to welcoming you onboard to discover the power of arguably one of the worlds most advanced protection systems for Windows.

We look forward to seeing you again tomorrow when we make the new release available! :)

    Best regards,
    Wayne, Jason and Gavin

    Hi Wayne,

I am just wondering, what does that mean? Does that mean we will have to uninstalled the beta version of PG we have now to install the new one? does that mean we will have to go through all the processus of configuring this new beta version? If this is the case, I would wait for the full public release, I don't want to lose my tyme, always configuring new version of PG!!!!

    Thanks,
    Atomas31

    Hi Atomas31,

you can uninstall a beta, reboot, and install another, your settings (protection list) are saved, but not the Security list (checksuming feature).
If you have modified the default settings for the system apps (crss.exe, etc...) they come back to default settings, but apart of that your whole protection list is saved :)

    regards,

    gkweb.

    Hi there :D

Could one not save pguard.dat & pghash.dat, uninstall, install the new version, exit PG3, copy the saved .dat to \Windows\System32 (where they currently reside I think) and then reboot (as this will turn off learnig mode)?

Is there a flaw to that approach or this the the way to go until the good folk at DCS provide an export/import configuration option (which I believe has been requested)? o_O

Someone please advise me of the error of my planned ways or correct any apprent errors in the proposed approach!

    Regards

    Baldrick

When trying beta software it is always best to start afresh as that is the only way to test properly IMHO. :)

The new public beta has enhanced learning features and nearly all the issues mentioned in the previous V3 beta posts here have been addressed.

Your choice as always. Pilli :D

    Hi Pilli

You make a good point............as always. Given I am a NIS user and have had one bad and one good experience with conflicts so far I will try your recommendation and see how it goes (and if things do not go well I can always try using the back up of the relevant .dat files from the good experience...........as a fallback).

    Thanks for the advice.

    Best regards

    @Baldrick,
Only if you have Public Beta Version 3 or later as V2 .dat files are not compatible.

@Blazie, You will have to watch this forum as must I for the public beta but I guess it will be 5 - 6 PM Perth time, 9 -10 AM Europe and 5 - 6AM US. time.

so about 3 or 4 hours from this post :)

Saving your DAT files WILL work, the installer clears the HASH file so you get a fresh start in regards to what can and cant run on your system :)

Gavin, I thought it was stated somewhere that the V2 pguard.dat was not compatible with V3 pguard.dat?

    Cheers. Pilli :)
