clam antivirus

    ClamAV doesn't take part in Virus Btn testing, therefore, it has none but not b/c it couldn't achieve it. :)

    But, anyway, I feel, it has nothing much to boast about in terms of detection except for Email borne viruses...Also, it gives a number of false alarms. The scan engine too is very slow.

    I agree. I think it's getting better with each new release, but it got a ways to go on the windows platform. Don't get me wrong though its still quite amazing for an open-source av! And for those of you that use an AV w/o a mail scanner (ex. F-prot, AntiVir) ClamMail, which uses the ClamAV engine for POP3 scanning, makes a great add-on.

    Clam has an active forum, is quite well supported and widely used in Linux platform and is evolving as a very good and free on demand alternative.
