Well, MSE scans anything I download, then I give the downloaded file a quick second opinion scan with MBAM.

I think I'm stuck with the paranoia.

Are you using the portableapps.com version? Don't they have some sort of platform that automates the updates, even for Chrome? I had asked about this a while ago but ...

There might be some automated updater. I think you can actually just rerun the installer. I just don't use that USB much and when I do use it it's at school.

I couldn't agree more Page, I just don't see what's wrong with frequent updates. With antivirus applications they seem most welcome by everyone, with browsers on the other hand some people seem to think they are unnecessary.
