then if you use a portable version you have to configure the thing, install any extensions you need, configure them.

Chrome updated so bloody often one might as well install the thing and be done with it.

If you want paranoia as a friend, then MBAM won't suffice. :D

Well, MSE scans anything I download, then I give the downloaded file a quick second opinion scan with MBAM.

I think I'm stuck with the paranoia. :doubt: :D o_O

You don't test it for a week on a spare computer running OpenBSD with a Windows 7 VM first? Reckless.

Are you using the portableapps.com version? Don't they have some sort of platform that automates the updates, even for Chrome? I had asked about this a while ago but ... o_O

Edit: one more thing ... this release also saw the pwn competitions

There might be some automated updater. I think you can actually just rerun the installer. I just don't use that USB much and when I do use it it's at school.

vasa1, at the Platform's GUI, if you click Options > Advanced tab, under Check for updates..., you can select On platform startup and also Update to Beta platform releases, to automatically check for available updates to both.

Thanks, JR! I'm on Linux now and so have to get the full version each time :( but this info should be useful for those on Windows.

I couldn't agree more Page, I just don't see what's wrong with frequent updates. With antivirus applications they seem most welcome by everyone, with browsers on the other hand some people seem to think they are unnecessary.
