That it is becoming more and more difficult to trust what you see on the Internet :doubt:

No matter which operating system you select the results are the same for the simple reason it is all generated on the fly....lack of better description. They are not actually checking your system for anything. They pretend to display results that are actually nothing more than the HTML code.

For instance the Big Blue arrow(arrow1.gif) has the words Security and your Average Status is nothing but a animated gif file(load1.gif) and you are then given the Symtoms....all via the HTML code.

    Arrow.... http://www.liutilities.com/products/campaigns/plib/graphics/arrow1.gif

Give these a second or two animate to their actaul words:
    Very Poor.... http://www.liutilities.com/products/campaigns/plib/graphics/load1.gif

    Poor.... http://www.liutilities.com/products/campaigns/plib/graphics/load2.gif

    Moderate.... http://www.liutilities.com/products/campaigns/plib/graphics/load3.gif

Even with the disclaimer this "test" is still rather misleading. I know too many people who would look at something like this and take it seriously.

    Amen to that.

mwahhaaa!... Rainwalker, check MY results out, ROFL....

Security: ROFL.... Kerio FF, KAV, Online Armor, SSD, AwAware, AdWatch, SS, ArovaxShield, plus other backups... :'( Yet tis 'VERY POOR' ROFL
Stability: VERY POOR: Oh dear this just gets better doesn't it, ROFL, I can count on one hand the times my PC has crashed over the last 2 years with 3 digits cut off.
Speed: VERY POOR: ohh ohh ohh, shucks, I shall just go out and get another HDD [besides the 10,000 RPM currently], and 1G RAM, shall I :doubt: :doubt:
CPU Usage: POOR, ROFL... yep.. not too good I am afraid, sitting there at 1-2% spiking to 35-60 when using Photoshop, dangnabit!
Memory Usage: POOR, dear me, what can I say to this?
Start-Up Time: a large number of unecessary apps, processes, geeZe, with my Services Running less than ONE-THIRD even listed, and the others either Manual/Disabled. Even with just the bare bones security apps running on start up, it takes a \sarcasm mode on\ "massive" 35 seconds from SHUT DOWN TO RESTART \sarcasm mode off\ so I guess, I need to turn off all the security apps from starting up ahyo_O
Invisible Processes: My, Crapcleaner/O&ODefrag/Reg Supreme PRO/ plus TuneUp Utilities just does NOT cut the mustard in getting rid of all of my UNinstalled residuals, oh bugger!

Sure was a great time finding out I am very lacking in Security/Performance/Speed/Stability, etc. :p

Actually I suspect that the results "could" be the same for everyone?

I turned on my other PC, and a Laptop, went there and the exact same results, admittedly i have a very similar setup on all, but the EXACT same... and since Bubba pointed out the code, well.......:D :D

Also, I selected ALL of the operating systems XP/2000/98/95, all same. so that in itself gives it the BS rating, since they are different and Services don't exist in couple... as the Grinch would say, "BAH! Humbug!"

I've had wintasks for quite a while....since before they became uniblue. As far as I can tell they have done little, if anything, to develope the product in the last year or two. Also, for those of you that were wondering...you see all those teasers on the internet, "want to know more, get wintasks pro..." The sad truth is you really don't get anymore. Just a one or two sentance description.

Wintasks is a good product, but it is because of its built in functions and logging more than the data base. You get just as much info from their website.

I'm glad I ran that superb test as I never realised that my CPU was so clogged.

I'm just drilling a big hole in the CPU at the moment, so that I can try to unclog it with some caustic soda and a large bottle brush.

I'm really looking forward to the improvement...

Damn, I get the same results as everyone else. And here was I believing that the setup i use is unique to me alone. You others must have exactly the same setup as me. Well i'm not having that, i'm going to uninstall everything and install all new apps and test it again. Yeah, right... ;)

    Average according to whose research?

Even if they had done thorough and respectable research to back up their "ratings" of an "average" system, this is displayed in a very deceptive manner. The little disclaimer you have quoted is there just to avoid legal trouble and to point out to people like the thread starter to say "oh no, you just misunderstood!"

i don't agree with it i was only pointing it out. but, normally it's quite a useful site i don't know why they did it. also, you can see the boxes coloured backgrouds before the test has finished :D

I didn' think you agrees with their tactic, Ice ;)

My reply wasn't really focused at you (sorry if it sounded that way) but at the people doing that. Their speed up my pc link fails to even put a little disclaimer by their .gif though...

Go ahead and use them, Iceni. Since their website seems to provide as much information about processes as their software, that might serve as a bit of a disincentive to buy the product.

And I still like and use wintasks. I just don't have any illusions about having special access to far greater process information than you get on the website for free. They are providing a good free service. I can get behind that! For my money I get some convenience and a much more usable task manager. That's fine too. I do think they were quick out of the gates but were winded by the first turn. (This is just idle speculation, but I wonder if the people who developed the original product even work there anymore!).

    Yes, an advert...

...and just what is the point of going through all the theatrics of appearing to be running a diagnostic? To provide good information? To mislead?
