    Hi Nanc,

step 1: make a new folder in My Documents, name it HijackThis or suitable name. Then keep hijackthis program there removing it from desktop. The backups made, otherwise will spread in desktop and not will be easy to manage.
step 2: have only this entries fixed by hijackthis

(You have kept http://www.main.nc.us/ as your homepage, right? )

reboot and delete this if found
    C:\WINDOWS\BXXS5.DLL

reboot and post a fresh log.

I have some doubt in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DBCTL32O.EXE but I will leave that for experts.

    Hi Nanc,

Can you navigate to C:\Windows\System and locate the dbctl32O.exe file, right-click on the file (do not left-click on it). Check the tabs under it's properties and tell me what program it says it is related to.

In case the above file is hidden, make sure you have all files and folders viewable: How to Show hidden files and folders.

If you cannot see anything there to identify it, then please upload it to Kaspersky for a scan.

Then zip up a copy of the 'dbct1320.exe' and submit it to the email address here: Pieter_Arntz so he can have a closer look at it.

Can you also include the scan results from Kaspersky along with the new HijackThis scan.

    Regards,

    snap

    - Hi sub! - beat me by a few seconds ;)

*edit to add: Nanc, I would include this line to be fixed in HijackThis along with the one's that subratam has listed. It will not delete the file, it will just stop it from starting up when you reboot your computer. Unless you know what it is, then fix it too.

dbctl320.exe disappeared. I believe is was part of NERO CD burning software that I removed after I ran the log.

I removed BXXS5.dll, including registry entries.

    Looks good. Thanks
