Hello, I want to change the size of one partition. After I apply all the changes I want to make, Acronis Disk Director Suite 10 runs through every step without any error. But after all no changes had be made. That means the partition has the same size as before. This only happens with Windows Vista not with Windows XP.

Does anybody know why it doesn't work on Windows Vista? o_O

I would hazard a guess that the XP partition was created during the XP install and the Vista partition was created by Vista during the Vista install?

Vista creates partitions with a different offset from XP, and DD doesn't handle it correctly. If you first create a partition for Vista using XP, and then install Vista to it, DD will handle it correctly.

We are expecting a new version of DD soon. Let's hope this has been addressed.

If you're trying to make the change by running DD in Windows and it's requiring a reboot to complete, try booting to the DD CD and making the change.

You might also run chkdsk /f on the partition to check for any errors that may be causing a problem.

Hopefully, you also have a current backup image of the drive just in case something goes wrong.
