I have a paid ewido and I just learned about AVG anti-spyware change over...I am wondering if I need my license # key or email address? I don't remember how it was done before....right now I am away from home and I don't have my information with me...I have my laptop with me.

I know how to uninstall a program and reboot before installing a new program....I don't understand about using registry...I don't like to go in there as I am not an experience user...it is necessary??

I appreciated any help and thank you....Regards, Rose

Check out the first thread in this forum by ElPiedra.
It says there that the license key for 4.0 will work with the new version.

I seldom go into the registry myself.
I use a registry cleaner. It may not be neccessary to do any registry cleaning.
    Uninstall,reboot,then install the new version.

When you have installed the new program there is a button labeled "enter the license code" in the lower right in the AVG AntiSpyware program panel.

If I uninstall ewido and install a new version I think it might ask me for email address I previously used for a license code then I may have to wait till I gets home because I don't remember which an email address I used....Rose:rolleyes:

All you need is your licence code, so it's really a question of whether you kept a note of it. If not you would have to email support.

The Registry clean is more of an optional thing for those who like to be spick and span! All you really need to do is uninstall ewido from Add/Remove progs and then reboot before installing the new version. If everything is working OK then you can just leave it at that.

    Here is what I did:
    • uninstalled ewido 4.0
    • rebooted
    • installed AVG-AS 7.5 (showing as 7.5.0.47 trial)
    • searched my old mail for the ewido 3.5 license key; copy to clipboard
    • went to the ewido website http://www.ewido.net/en/upgrade/ to convert to 4.0 license key; copy
    • pasted new license key into AVG-AS 7.5 (now showing as 7.5.0.47 plus)
Unfortunately the uninstall also lost all my settings and schedules!
