    How do they do that ? I've always heard/read/thought that unless we rebooted Index.dat couldn't be wiped as the file was locked by windows !

    I have read it also. I do not have idea how they manage to remove Index.dat without rebooting.

    Hmm, weird, when I installed 3.0 it wanted to install Google Chrome instead of Google toolbar and when I installed 3.01 on top of 3.0 it didn't want to install anything.

    You might have Google Chrome and Google Toolbar installed already. That is why it did not offered you anything new.

    Check your installed programs for further confirmation.

    -If user has no Google product installed, then Google Chrome is offered.
    -If user has Google Chrome installed, then Google Toolbar is offered.
    -If user has Google Toolbar installed, then Google Chrome is offered.
    -If user has both Google Chrome and Google Toolbar installed, then nothing is offered.

    I can confirm that I don't have any Google program installed, so also not one of these two.

    To show, once again, my ignorance could someone please explain to me what exactly is the SLIM version. I use CCleaner occasionally; would it be to my advantage to download the SLIM version. As always I appreciate all replies and would thank you in advance.

    @jpcummins: CCleaner Installer is CCleaner + Google Chrome/Toolbar
    CCleaner Slim is CCleaner only (without any bundled toolbar)
    CCleaner Portable is CCleaner only for use via portable devices.
