Newly installed Ver 4.0.474.0 on 2003Server and XP desktop...

Personal firewall log will not display. o_O It tries to load, then stops & tries again, repeatedly. CPU usage goes high as this happens. Only remedy to switch to one of the other log displays during the few seconds that the fw log load resets itself. Those logs are small and so do not cause any problem when viewed.

Temporary setup to trim the # of files:
    Setup/Tools/Log Files
    (on) delete records automatically
delete records older than 2 days
    Minimum logging verbosity:
    Informative Records
    Default filter
    (on) Critical Warnings
    (on) Errors
    (on) Warnings
    (off) Informative Records
    (on) Diagnostic records
    (solid) All filters
    (on) Enable Smart filtering

Once the log view works, I'll reset the # of days to 30. Is the rest of the setup OK?

Couldn't it be that you have logging of all blocked connections enabled in the IDS setup?

Why, yes, I do. I want to see what the firewall is doing while I set it up.

Turning off logging of all blocked connections enabled in the IDS setup did not make any difference.

What did make a difference is that the command to only log 2 days of transactions was finally implemented, sometime overnight. Now the log is small enough that the s/w can display it.

    Why the sarcasm? :thumbd:

And why does it take so long to trim the log? o_O
