Can't Uninstall ESET NOD32

Picked up a new laptop this afternoon, uninstalled the trial version of Norton then installed ESET NOD32. I'm getting "error communicating with Kernal", checked for the ESET Service and it's missing. Try to uninstall and I get "could not delete key \Software\Microsoft\Windows\NT\CurrentVersion
Image File Execution\Options\ekrn.exe. Verify you have sufficient access to that key.", hit ignore and a few more similar errors pop up. This is followed by "the installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file:C:\Program Files\ESET NOD32 Antivirus\TBDDDA0.tmp."

I'm got administrative rights so I'm not sure what's going on. How can I get this uninstalled so I can reinstall?

From ESET Knowledge Base: The error message "Error communicating with kernel" appears . It should hopefully help you to resolve the issue.

 

Yep, I've tried what was in the knowledge base. I'm getting the errors when I'm trying to uninstall as noted in the link to the Kernel Error

 

i would uninstall eset following the directions here http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN2289

This should allow you to reinstall no problem whatsoever.Follow the directions exactly.Also,be sure to download and run the norton removal tool here and save to desktop and also run that in safe mode http://ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

 

and the key word here is uninstall in SAFE MODE! Got it working. Now I just need to figure out Windows7
