Canonical asks desktop users to "pay what you think Ubuntu is worth"

    I call it like I see it.

    There's debate to be had when it comes to open vs closed but it is not based on what's been said.

    IMHO you can't say open or closed source is better for any customer in general, it has to be assessed on an individual per project basis and you have to consider existing systems in place, budget, value for money, support options etc, to base the decision purely on licensing model is not in the best interests of the customer IMHO.

    Back to the topic on question.

    Based on my experiences of most recent Ubuntu 12.04 I would not pay a penny for desktop use, but the previous and upcoming versions are worth something due to lack of hassle I have had.

    But I won't be paying a penny because I contribute more in time and effort to Ubuntu in support and development.
