I am trying to restore from a backup created with trueimage to a USB drive. When I try to do it from my regular PC environment, I get a message telling me that the disk I am trying to restore to is in use.

So, I create a restore CD with USB drivers etc.... I reboot my machine, boot off the recovery CD and try 'restore image' and I get errors reading the USB drive.

This drive is perfectly readable during normal bootup and I can create an image no problem.

    Suggestions??

    Using Acronis V7.0

    Click on Restore image

Get processing window for drive C - ok
Get processing window for drive D(analyzing partition D) - takes several minutes

    Then
Failed to read from the sector 102,398,439 of the hard disk 2

    I choose ignore
Failed to read from the sector 102,398,440 of the hard disk 2

    followed by 441, 442 etc....

I choose ignore all and get
Failed to read from the sector 0 of the hard disk 0

    then a system reboot

if I choose cancel on the first error, I am returned to the 'check image wizard/image archive selection' window.

if i check my ide drive (C) I see the drive and contents.

if i check disk D (USB drive) I get 'failed to read from the sector 0 of the hard disk 0'

    Which build of version 7.0?

Try placing the boot cd in the cd bay and completely shutting down your system. Wait one minute and then start the system. Are the results any different?

    Hi,

Which capacity has your USB drive? With my 160 GB USB drive there were errors too. TI7 detected only 120 GB or the like in the two partitions on the disk when using the boot cd.
