Cannot open Firewall Log

    I cannot open the firewall log, doing so causes smart security to lock up. I have never tried to access it before today and I can open all other logs without issue. I 1st assumed it was because it was very large for no apparent reason but even letting it sit for 8min did nothing, i had to end task it. Is there any other way to access the firewall logs ?

    Hello!

    You are right . This is know issue , I have seen it on many machines .
    Your firewall is most likely set to log all connections , this has made the log enormous and now the GUI hangs when you even try to see it .

    The solution would be to either reinstall the application (not that it doesn't work) or to manually delete the log files.

    Reboot in Safe Mode , navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All users\Application data\Eset\ESET Smart Security\Logs\ (for XP)

    or


    C:\Program data\Eset\ESET Smart Security\Logs\ (for Vista)


    and manually delete the firewall log files.


    When you reboot back to Normal mode , open the User interface , press F5 and adjust the settings as shown here:

    Also , goto the Log files section and optimize
