Hi, I just purchased NOD32 but can't get it to run in the background. It worked the first time I installed it, but when I restarted the computer all I got was the splash screen, which displayed for a while and then poped up a dialog box saying that it couldn't install.

I can start the program manually and do a disk scan OK, but it says:
Error occured while scanning operating memory. System memory cannot be scanned (the kernel service is not running or an error occured while loading nod31m1.vxd) - and it dosn't come up with the screen showing the background processes.

I tried re-installing, but still no joy :(
Any ideas about what to do next?

    Hi pshanks:

    More information would be helpful.

    1. Previous AV (if any- even if it was a trial).
    2. Security Software running (i.e. Process Guard, Adwatch, Firewall)
    3. Version of Windows

You will find that most issues are not solved until these 3 items are known. ;)

Are you able to start the NOD32 kernel service manually?

sorry to be so slow to get back to you - it was on a windows 2003 server. Turns out it had been compromised and a bunch of backdoors and malware had been loaded onto it. I rebuilt it and have had no further issues. Thanks for your attention
