cannot get updates

    Hi, I have a desktop and laptop computer connected via linksys wireless router. Both running windows XP. When I click on "download updates"on both computers it turns grey and gets stuck there. I have to use ctrl alt del to get rid of the window.
    I wonder how I can correct that. I have had the program for a long time.
    Hope somebody can help me.
