    Acronis True image home 2009
    latest update.
    windows XP
    C drive is 180GB capacity
My documents folder (on C) is appx 127gb full of data
Used space (based on Acronis analysis of C drive is 141gb)

That makes everything but the "my documents" folder appx 14gb.

When I get to the step of the wizard that asks for "files to exclude" I try adding the path on the C drive to the my documents folder by putting the path in with and without an "*" ahead of the path.

When I run the wizard, I run out of space on my usb hdd, which has 45gb of free space on it.

what am I doing wrong-doesnt this version of acronis allow the user to exclude certain files from an image backup?

What I want to do is create an image of my OS with the basic programs and updates so that if I want to restore quickly I have the basics. I also want to create a separate backup of the my documents folder from time to time, but I think i have that taken care of.

    Help?

Have you tried something like this using the full path to your documents.

    the voyeur,

    A quote from ATI 2009 User's Guide:
"You can also specify the path to a folder to be excluded, for example, C:\Program Files\Common Files\. Note that the path must end with the "\" symbol, otherwise the folder will not be excluded."
Have you tried to exclude the folder as the guide suggests?

    Vlad

Good suggestion Vlad. I'll try that and see how it works.

Thank you Vlad for correcting my omission. I have corrected my attachment.

    The voyeur,
My path example may not match your actual path and you may have to experiment with the use of quotes markings.
