Recently, (most current version and database) I have been unable to connect to whois.arin.net or any other server when I run whois within Port Explorer.

Error: Failed to Find whois.arin.net - Connection Failed

    Comments/suggestions...?

Hi Snook, My first guess would be that your firewall is blocking the outbound connection.
Can you describe your OS and firewall please.

    Thanks. Piilli

Snook, tell us how you fixed it. I am having the same problem. My PE will run a trace, but anything involving the "whois" function generates an error message.

I had some problems with arin more frequently, no matter which whois tool i used, not only PE. So when you wrote about it i checked and got an arin failure too with every tool, while other whois services were ok for me that same moment like ripe for instance.
Guess arin is one of the most used and might have been maintaining something, as i guess it's working properly for all again now?
