    Hi!

I'm using ESET File Security for Linux version 3.0.15 on a RHEL 5.3
My license is valid until 2011.
My server is not connected to Internet and I'm using a mirror for updating the viruses database.
In my /var/log/messages every 10 minutes I find a message like this:
    Aug 23 05:23:44 fileserver01 esets_daemon[15172]: error[3b440000]: Cannot check license validity: Unknown user
    Aug 23 05:23:44 fileserver01 esets_daemon[15172]: error[3b440000]: Cannot check license validity: Unknown user
    Aug 23 05:33:54 fileserver01 esets_daemon[15172]: error[3b440000]: Cannot check license validity: Unknown user
    Aug 23 05:33:54 fileserver01 esets_daemon[15172]: error[3b440000]: Cannot check license validity: Unknown user
    Aug 23 05:44:04 fileserver01 esets_daemon[15172]: error[3b440000]: Cannot check license validity: Unknown user

This is becoming very annoying and the size of the logs are increasing. Other than that, everything is working just fine.

Is there any way to work around this problem?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello Catalin,

When you set up the mirror, did you require authentication? If so, then you need to have the username and password you set in the mirror in the esets.cfg file match this. If you didn't then they both need to be blank.

    Hello!

The mirror server does not require any authentication and updates for ESETS is working fine. The way I see it, it looks like the estes_daemon tries to connect to an internet server from Eset to check if the license is valid. Since my server is not connected to internet... we get this error. It is just an assumption

    Any ideas?
