I've been trying for hours to compile the HFS drivers for Linux. I'm getting "Can't prepare driver configuration", "configure: error: Can't find kernel source files" and "Kernel configuration is invalid. include/generated/autoconf.h or include/config/auto.conf are missing. Run 'make oldconfig && make prepare' on kernel src to fix it."

I've tried installing and reinstalling the kernel headers and the kernel source. I've tried softlinking the kernel source to /usr/src/linux. I've tried everything I can think of, and it WILL NOT COMPILE. Period.

I'm running 64-bit Debian 8 Jessie, on the 3.16.7 kernel.

I also tried running "make oldconfig" and it failed.
