Can't you copy windows xp that is already installed and upgrade that copy of xp to vista?

I don't know about the steps. The manual isn't very helpful.
It says that copied os go to bootwiz folder. How do you make it go onto a new partitioned drive? Does that mean that there are 2 os in one partition? In that case can you upgrade one of them to vista while keeping the other as xp? Thanks for helping people!

    Hello darocketfan,

Thank you for your interest in Acronis Partition and Disk Managing Software.

Please be aware that Windows Vista is not supported by any of Acronis Software at the moment. This support will be certainly implemented in future versions. I'm afraid that we cannot tell you what steps are necessary for the case you have described.

You can find the list of supported operating systems at this FAQ article.

However, the upgrade procedure for supported operating systems is the following:

If both copies of an operating system reside on the same partition, then Acronis OS Selector replace all system files and folders of the first OS with system files and folders of the second (copy) on the boot partition. All the files and folders of none-booted OS are stored in the Bootwith folder in this case. So if you want to uprage one of the above-mentioned copies you should just set it bootable by booting it prior the upgrade process. After that please proceed with the upgrade procedure as it is supposed to be according to the appropriate OS upgrade instructions.

    Thank you.
