can you spin down your seagate hard disk?

Hi

i have right now 3 seagate , and i did notice they don't spin down
i set up windows xp to spin down after 5 minutes
i tried wester digital and hitachi they work
but i can't spin down a seagate


are you able under xp sp2 or sp3 to spin down your seagate , did you find some errors in event log?

I am not running XP now, but my Seagate SATA II drive has always turned off(spin down) when I put this pc to sleep. Even when I had XP on the old hardware it was working. Same disk.

I would check your sleep/other settings once you get into Power Management in XP.

 

to me gave an error in event log
if i try to suspend too
in the event log , the drive has an old firmware
but seagate told me is the last
but i found many users have issues to spin down the new seagate drives

 

Stick with Western Digital from now on. I sure won't buy any more Seagate drives.
