I made and have mentioned my site that includes the basics on malware and security software, but also includes guides to prevent getting infected, removing malware, maintenance, hardware, etc.

I was wondering if some of you could look at it, verify the information is factual, and provide feedback on what could be added, removed, changed, etc.

I have tried to keep it as simple as possible for computer illiterate people as well but am not sure if any parts are too technical.

Also, some of the pages are quite long, so maybe one person agreeing to check one page would get it done faster lol.

Thanks. The site is in my signature.

I'm most concerned with the maintenance page, as it feels like too much. I'm also not totally sure what to include, and how to present it.

  4. Your on the right track. Just keep going.

USA still the best. But barely.
Very nice. Simple which is great. Also I take it since the site is so clean & simple. It'll be easier to get to, load & navigate on a crippled computer or slow connection. Well done.

    Edit: I just bookmarked it!

Thank you all for the compliments.

Do you think one of you could try the advanced removal instructions on my malware removal page? Preferably if you are not very computer saavy?

I want to know if the instructions are clear enough for anyone to follow.

Also, I am actually considering removing the firewall section, as including complex HIPS firewalls goes against my idea of help average users. What do you think?

Lastly, I put a big warning about Avira having a nag screen and Ask toolbar in its review. I've also read it has problems removing malware, and it seems to be light on features compared to other free AVs. Should I remove it, since I will be adding Kingsoft soon and possibly ZoneAlarm?

Oh and most importantly, if any of you can think of a more original name than "Brandon's Computer Info Center" I would be very appreciated. :D

Congratulation, nice pages! Please note that malware removal is generally against Terms of Servise (ToS) of the wilders forum. Better to link to other specialised websites such as Bleepingcomputer or SpywareHammer

    Cheers,

Oh I thought of something. I don't have Windows 8, and was wondering if one of you that does can give me the instructions for doing things on my Maintenance page for Windows 8.

    Thanks!

    Nice website, Brandonn :thumb:

Just my observation, but I would put browsers under the heading "Web Browsers" or simply "Browsers" rather than "Other Programs", only because I see them as being so important, the primary conduit for web-borne threats.

You might even want to suggest ways to enhance a browser's security, such as Noscript plug-in for Firefox or even elaborate via link on the security merits of a browser, such as Chrome's sandboxed renderers , eg: http://dev.chromium.org/developers/design-documents/multi-process-resource-loading

I think "My Security Programs" shouldn´t be on the home page. It creates the impression that the site is ads-driven. The same applies to "Credits".

Also, the tab in the browser shows "Home" and not a more descriptive name (this is in the not-secure IE9).

It's looking good. One suggestion I would make though would be to link to the publishers download pages rather than to the downlod pages at Softpedia. But other than that excellent work :)
