From what I remember there is an option to set it to invisible.

This is good news and I would think not use any more resources. :)

As for the interface it is fine crisp and clean. I like it. :thumb:

Not the startup popup. The one thats nagging about Premium version after successful update. And they put all the strenght to prevent using hacks instead finding some better solution to promote their Premium stuff. Lame like hell...

To offer "Don't show this message ever again" option after it displays that message for 5 times... for example. I'm sure there's no need to constantly nag about Premium version. We're all aware of it, no need to be freakin annoying with it...

I don't see any way to get rid of the popup there. I have it minimized but I get tired of seeing it every hour and then watching it count from 10 before it disappears. Yeah, I can click on it early in the countdown and disappear it faster...but why do I have to watch it every hour anyhow? I don't want to see it at all.

You just select "invisible" on Schedule Job, this hides the Updater Window completely and you can also do it with the Scan Window if you want (better also set 'automatic' action for the scan). Remember that it takes a re-boot for schedule changes to take effect.

I have had it set this way for the last two months, only time I see an Update Window, is if I enable a "Start update" command (from right-click or GUI).

You can tell that the Search Engine was updated when you notice that the icon has moved. Otherwise you must open GUI to check when an update was done, you can select a time period (in Configuration) for a warning of no update and the MS Security is now also working properly this year.

I liked it better when the icon reloaded on every update, just a glance to see that it had been done :)

Thanks. I had completely forgotten about clicking on through the job scheduled. I scheduled that a long time ago..I was looking on the main scheduler screen and right clicking on the task and, of course, what I needed to do was click through like I was scheduling a new task in order to get to those choices. I set it to invisible but I don't know when I'll re-boot. I hate having to do that.

    Remove AntiVir PEC Ads:
Go to "Start > Settings > Control Panel > Local Security Policy > Security Settings > Software Restriction Policies > Additional Rules" and set a new hash rule for avnotify to "disallowed".

Problem with above route is that it will need to be done again when a new version of avnotify is issued.

It's better to use path rule instead of hash rule to block the avnotify.exe.

Did the above one time, more than a year ago and have not seen a trace of avnotify, even survived an uninstall/clean install of the 'Rootkit' version.

I do allow (and enjoy) it on Win98 System, that updates only a few times a month.

I am the sole user of this computer using xp.

Went to control panel, admin tools but there is no local security policy listed there.

Went to start, run and put gpedit.msc but it says windows cannot find it.

Where are my software restriction policies ?
