When I uninstall NOD32 1.x much is left on my system. pop3scan.exe is still in the startup group also. I tried installing Version 2.x and still get 1.x starting, and many errors. What a mess. I hope I can get rid of the old version completely. I tried searching for "eset" registry entries, but get far too many matches.

Hmm.. I suggest you try installing/uninstalling it again.. Something must've messed up..

[x] Uninstall version two using Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel
    [x] Restart
    [x] Install version one (non-beta)
    [x] Restart
[x] Uninstall version one using Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel
    [x] Restart
[x] If the folder C:\Program Files\Eset exists, remove it.

After that you should be able to get a "clean" version two.

    Best regards,
    Anders

Use Power Tools from http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/index.php (Its free) . Install program go to "registry tools" then from "tools" menu chose "Registry finder" type pop3scan then delete. ;)

Deleted the key with Power Tools, removed leftover files in the Eset directory and still the same thing when I install V2. I've uninstalled and reinstalled v 1.x several times rebooting after each attempt. hmm.. Neither 1.x or 2.x will work now.

    Hi Paul,

thanks for your compliments - the Wilders Forums look also much better now. :)

Anyway, I could do my work still better - I'd need a bit more time - we are for sure not sleeping with the preperation of the v2. :D

    Cheers,

    jan

I got rid of that in msconfig --->startup tab. So it was not in the registry at all.

I just talked to a freind that tried NOD32 for 30 days after my recomendation, and the same thing is happening to him - can not uninstall. Chances are I will not be able to run NOD32 without formatting my C:.

Just wondering, since you had so many leftovers including in msconfig, were all components of NOD (CC, Amon and the email scanner) shut down when you uninstalled it? I don't recall having such problems when I uninstalled the trial, so that's all I can think of as one way that may have resulted.

I did forget to shut everything down first. After I reinstalled, I did shut everything down before uninstalling tho.
