i can not patch xp sp3 visual style

i used UXTender.exe


when i try to install or run a visual style i get this error

 

You follow a particular procedure for the install? Yes? Post it.

Haven't seen anything like it.
Your .msstyle is in the proper location and the name sounds like an XP Visual Style.

Do you get the error with any 3rd party VS or just this Watercolor one?
Have you considered replacing the uxtheme.dll (iirc) with a pre-patched one?
Neowin.net should have what you need, should you decide to give it a try.

I've tried patching the original uxtheme.dll and no luck. No matter what I did,it just wouldn't work. So,I tried StyleXP and never had 1-issue applying themes,something to try when your tired of pullin your hair out.

 

No, I don't use XP anymore.
Is your XP French or did you just install the French Language Pack?
If it's French then that could be the problem.
Did a little searching and the only patcher I could find that says it'll work with SP3 FR (32-bit only) is on deviantART.

The site is reputable, but that doesn't mean it's 100% clean.
Make an image before using this or anything like it.
If you don't have an imaging app, get one.
Consider Macrium Reflect Free if you don't want to buy anything or check out the backup, imaging & disk mgmt forum if you'd like some other opinions.

If you don't mind running another service and stuff then TuneUp Utilities, StyleXP, Hyperdesk, etc are indeed an option as well.

 

Let's have the *file* versions - both uxtheme and uxtender. I'll assume the latter's 1.3 unless you tell us otherwise.

Italian's OK. Get three (v6.0.2900.5512) back on, then READ - there's a link. Use the mirror and don't be lazy, follow the first method.
