I have always been a big fan of SuperAntiSpyware. I have only ever used it as an on demand scanner. Awhile back I used it in real time mode and it was using 46-56K of memory. Sp I stopped using real time mode. I recently tried it again using SAS Version 4.0.1152 in real time mode. Now its only using 300K, Can it be? Seems extremely low. Is there anyway to test SAS's real time mode like you do for an AV test with the "eicar" site ?

46-56 MB or KB ? If now indeed 300K that is pretty light !

We have done extensive work to make the product as light as possible. We have drastically reduced the physical memory required and swap the rest to disk when it is not used :)

You will also find the scanning times in 4.0 greatly reduced.

Oh yea, I recently downloaded version 4. I'm amazed how light it is - my computer is noticeably faster.

If you want to test its effectiveness just take a walk to the wild side of the net. I tested it out on a virt machine and yes, its definately effective.

Something funny: my brother once asked me if he could test my security softwares. I said yes, do everything you want with my computer during 30 minutes and we'll see what you catched. He browsed a huge amount of real nasty porn sites, downloaded lame softwares, etc... At the end, SuperAntiSpyware found approx. 40 malware files... All of that only in 30 minutes.

Just imagine someone without a sandbox.

Just imagine the minions out there who surf to such sites with no protection at all, let alone a sandbox.
