    Hi People,

I have being watching some of these videos
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BAKb8VOUL0

So I sent an email. Is that my 1st mistake? (real email address)
2nd I asked him if thought I had any wholes in my system, re attacks. ( I had given him a rundown of what’s on my system and how it’s configured).

This guy came back with 11 ways to make it more secure.

Some tips to improve your system security:

    1. use good antivirus with full option .
    2. use firewall and close all ports except port 80
3.dont use crack files in ur system. u can use fake serial number foe
    cracking paid version of software
    4.update all software
    5. if others use ur system , make limited access account ,disable
start up programs, disable installation of programs. disable usb ports
    6. make password for bios
    7. use Hide My Ass Pro VPN when browsing
8.ensure no other script in ur browser
9.u can improve security if u delete cookies regularly
10.dont use your google and face-book password for other sites

The Tips do seem ok in my humble opinion.

What made me think is that he asked where I lived.

    Your thoughts, thanks in advance.

    Thanks

    Chrismc2

I am not sure who hosted those videos, though the video tutorial is logical security which I know many friends of mine used back in the day to obtain their cissp's (certified information system security professional) and ceh's (certified ethical hacker) to some degree.

As for the advice that youtube uploader gave you while most good generic tips. Some seem to indicate the user also has no idea about computer security:

I hope they said more than just this as you are going to run into some issues if you follow that advice.

If you're not running a server, port 80 doesn't need to be open.

I'm confused. How's he going to see this page from his desktop then? You've got to allow out on port 80...

It is clear to me the answer is NO! you can't trust this guy!

    He said:

This is dishonest as he is telling you how to crack.

Change your email addresses asap and use disposable addresses on forums, ALL forums.

Learn how to protect yourself on the WWW.

Ports are open when an app or service is listening on it for incoming connections. If by chance his advice was referring to outbound connections, limiting it to port 80 prevents using https, ftp, and mail protocols. A nearly useless setup.

Entirely. Maybe he is trying to get the OP to install something that will let this guy in through port 80. :ouch:

    the orginal poster is "gone"

We can't know but I've seen this before here.A guy comes in posts once sort like throwing a bone into the husky team and then pulls back to watch the fur fly.

His orginal question was can he trust this guy. I gave my view and the ratio**** (often missing) and now I'm done here! :D
