After installing Avast Free internet Security on a computer of one of my clients (lots of people don't want to pay for a something like ESS), I found out that it can't scan/monitor secure POP or IMAP connections of Mozilla Thunderbird. Avast recommends changing the settings to insecure POP/IMAP, and apparently substitutes the insecure connections by secure connections itself. A clever solution, if I may say so.

This got me thinking: is Eset Smart Security 5 capable of monitoring secure POP/IMAP/SMTP connections, or does it only monitor file/disc access as means to intercepting vulnerabilities?

With Thunderbird closed, simply enable SSL scanning in ESS. After launching TB, POP3S/IMAPS should be scanned automatically.
