I did a clean install off an SP1 disk yesterday, and installed ALL updates without any issues whatsoever...

I should also mention that I sent KB3003057 (iexplorer 9) and KB890830 (Malicious Software Removal Tool) to Hidden Updates as I don't use either one. All the other updates were installed with no problems.

    You are welcome!
I always stay up to date with MS Patches. It never caused me any issue on 8 or 8.1 :)

    Is this a paranoia thread?
It would have to be ten years since I last had a problem with Windows Updates.

What is the reason for this thread again?

Last few updates have caused problems to some members so we are more cautious when updating.

I haven't had any real problems for a while, but I like to be careful these days.

Possibly paranoia, but with recent events with updates, I thought it could be a place where anyone could report problems.

I firmly believe that Microsoft have 'dropped the ball' recently and, I think like a great many of us, are being cautious with these updates.

There have been issues for the last 3 months in a row. Multiple BSODs and such. Recalled patches that were pulled in the days following their release. Just because you have been lucky does not mean everyone has. And when it is your job to maintain working machines, you can get into trouble when you install something that causes downtime.

I just installed 12 updates (two of which were driver updates) and they all installed except one which required a reboot to install properly. Since rebooting I've had no issues, just like 99.9% of the time I install updates.

Clearly, some people have problems with updates. However like you I don't, and have only ever experienced issues with updates maybe two or three times in around 17 years, and I've installed updates on many different computers in that time.

Very occasionally I come across updates that won't install, and at times I've had problems getting Windows Update to run. But I've found it extremely rare for an update to cause problems once installed.

It looks like the Nov Updates were good so i just installed 13 of them. No problems so far. One Svchost.exe has 250MB of Memory after Boot. After going into and then out of sleep mode it went away.
