I solved the long update time issue by installing the June Update Rollup for Win 7 last month. This month update check took only 2 minutes.

I had to run the looking for updates over night, this morning found updates and installed. @Minimalist you were right about one of the updates hidden solving the problem of slow updating. After the 47 updates that took over night to download and install this morning I rebooted and searched for updates again. Finding another 17 updates, this time all went normal (fast) Looking, downloading and installing. Now I'm up to date on all updates on Win 7.
It's so nice to be like it was before the nagware. :D:D

Yesterday I installed all Important updates on two 7x64 machines, with no bad effects (yet?).

I bought an old computer with fresh Windows 7 Pro - Windows Update simply refused to update.

Had to install the staging rollup, then the cumulative rollup and the June rollup to get Windows Update working again.

Did last two month's updates and its now all up to date.

Desktop Win 7 working great after updating. Fast searching for updates. :thumb: Now I'm doing the same updates on my wife's Win 7 laptop. Still searching for updates since 8am today. Hopefully it will be like the Desktop computer after getting the update to fix long search problem. :)

I left searching for updates run over night. This morning searching for updates still running after 24 hours. I also found while searching for updates running a notification in the taskbar "Windows updates ready for download", couldn't stop the search screen. I did a reboot and Windows showed 37 + 12 updates. Downloading the 37 updates now which will probably take all day and then do the remaining optional 12 later. Probably a glitch in the search screen.

On Win 7 Pro, 64 bit, not too much issues so far. I took it slow though step-by-step, and the connection was slow.

    3185319 - MS16-104 - Cum. Upd. IE11
    3175024 - MS16-111 - Windows Kernel
    3184122 - MS16-116 - OLE Automation VBS
    3185911 - MS16-106 - MS Graphics

    And several MS Office updates.
And 890830 - Malicious Software Removal Tool

    3172605 - July 2016 Rollup
This one was a bit strange. I had it already installed, but it was offered again.
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3172605
I noticed that the kb article had revision 8.0 on 13 Sept 2016
    Anyway, it installed OK again.

    3177186 - MS16-114
    Separate thread: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/ms-kb-3177186.388566/
    Anyway, it installed OK.

A few months ago I posted in the thread about an important update offered by MS for my Intel HD Graphics 4600, and that that update never was able to install. I noticed today that that update was not offered again (for the first time since it was offered). Why, I don't know. Instead I saw that the optional update from 21 Aug 2015 was offered again. Why, I don't know. I didn't even try to install it.

Not the case here. I had two machines stuck at 48% downloading for two and a half hours. I finally restarted and am trying again but so far it looks like one machine is stuck at 46%. I shut the other machine down in case having the two trying to download together was causing an issue.

I'm having exactly the same problem, already the best of one hour stuck on 45%, and I have only one machine with Win 10 AU...

My Vista machine has been trying for half an hour and still no joy, I hope it won't take a day...
