    Hi,

I'm looking into replacing my Ghost 2003 with TI and have noticed several threads about TI bootable CD problems. From the descriptions, it would seem that the TI rescue CD is Linux based.

Would anyone have additional details about this? Is source code for the bootable CD provided when I purchase TI?

    thanks

It is a linux kernel that loads. No source is supplied.

    Interesting.

Since Linux is GPL'd, shouldn't the source be made available by Acronis?
I would not expect them to supply their "application" code but the Linux distribution should be provided.

    Thanks for that reply.

I have also notice that some users trying to backup a fedora ext3 system cannot do so with True Image 8.0. It is suggested that the user needs True Image 8.0 Server for Windows for proper operation.

I also run fedora with ext3. If I decide to purchase TI, I would want the $49 package and NOT the $699 server version for proper operation with ext3

Does anyone know if this problem will be fixed?

    Hello dreww,

I have found all our links on our web site. Please find them below:

    http://www.acronis.com/files/gpl/fox.zip
    http://www.acronis.com/files/gpl/linux.tar.bz2
    http://www.acronis.com/files/gpl/mouse.zip

So there is no need to contact Marian.

As for Fedora Core 3 currently it is fully supported only by Acronis True Image 8.0 Server for Linux. Other editions allow you to create the image of such partitions only in sector-by-sector mode. We expect the full support for this file system to be implemented in future builds.

    Thank you.

    Thanks again.

Now to convince the wife that nightly backups of the PC are a good thing.

My budget for PC equipment is tiny fraction of other projects in our household ;)
