...and for the record, it installed perfectly on my Win7 64 system.

It's running nice and light with no issues thus far. We'll see how it goes as I come to grips with this new program and its features. So far, I'm impressed.

I wonder if Sandbox feature in Avast is really strong and could potentially replace Sandboxie somehow. Glad to read some opinions here.

P.s. as I have just on laptop, I would be glad to contribute in sharing a 3-computer licence for AIS.

Well, it seems to me that the AvASTsbxie in paid version gives you the option to open whatsoever in sbx, in the free v the prog in it itself decides what's suspicious or not and gives user the choice, in sbx or not...So, in the free you cannot decide upon your own. Your offer is granted.

Webshield? You mean the File Shield, right? The File Shield is what scans files/folders, while the Web Shield scans web pages in realtime.

Try "repairing" Avast! or uninstall and then reinstall it.

I do not have the Web Shield component installed because AvvastSvc.exe resource usage would shoot up over 10,000 during browsing while using IE9 and Chrome. Like I mentioned before, I own a netbook.

Anyways, "scan selected files" means it should only scan selected files? Yes/No? So it only scans certain files/things? Have you tried configuring its settings some more?

    @windefend and osip

I was misunderstood. I was simply saying that if there is someone willing to sell one of his 3-licence subscription, I would be willing to contribute in buying one.I don't want to ruin this thread.

So let's get back to a more important question. Has anyone tested sandbox of Avast? Can you harden it like Sandboxie does?

For some reason the title of this thread reminds me of Top Gear :D

    Back on topic.
Is there a comparison of features between paid and free?
The old one for v5 was so lame IMO (Not detailed, you couldn't really justify the price of the paid version with it) :)

I don't think there is a good one. You mean this lame one btw?
    http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download

Pro version adds Sandbox and SafeZone over Free, and IS adds Sandbox, SafeZone, Anti-spam and Firewall over Free.

Wouldn't know Fuzzy, however I've lived in Australia for the last 16 years and believe me, sometimes I think the accents sound South African, and cant understand a word they're yapping about :D

When will exit the Webrep to Chrome?
Protection Script does not work with the IE9?
The Sandbox does not work correctly with Chrome?
Someone is having a bug with it?

The little I've tested it still has these glitches.

I figured out why it doesn't work for you. I installed the Web Shield component, and turns out I was somewhat correct, you will need to create a list of what extensions and MIME-types you want the Web Shield to scan.
