This is insane! I thought that this was in beta and a couple of minutes ago I checked "update application" and it's now 6.0.1000!!!

How is it? Is it a pushed beta or the real dealo_O :D

I guess it's official: if you download the multilingual version on the avast web, it's 6.0.1000!

The AVAST website has been changed to reflect the release of version 6 so I guess it is official.

In my eyes avast! is going insane with it's version numbers. It has been version 4 for so long. And now they are pushing new versions every week.
Although in my eyes the AutoSandboxing is very poor, it hardly improves protection in the current state; the same applies to the Behavioral Shield.

I would have liked it more if they would just call this version 5.2, and then make sure the Behavioral Shield and AutoSandboxing actually improve protection significantly, and then call that version 5.5.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, in my eyes avast! Free Antivirus is a great product, it might very well be the best freebie.

Well, I'm not sure you're being totally fair here.
I mean, the autosandbox really needs to get some real-world data (harvested from the avast community) to do its job the way it was designed to... give it a month or two, and I think you will see some very interesting results.

So, let's help that instead of a bombshell, it will become a blockbuster.:p

    Thanks
    Vlk

    I'm afraid you're still downloading v5.1.
It takes a while for all the servers to update.

    Thanks

    Why quick ?

This is the originally planned release date. I would say that during beta testing everything went very smooth, only one Beta was skipped.

i know it was planned, i typically just prefer betas to be longer rather than shorter, i always thought the planned release date was a bit quick but as long as it runs stable then i guess my scepticism will be proven wrong.

The link xxtp://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_ais.exe should lead to v6 (Internet Security).

    Thanks
