Bogus Microsoft Phone Call

At least I am almost sure it was bogus. This guy couldn't speak English very good (nothing unusual)wanted me to go into event viewer looking for red X's. I told him I didn't have a problem and hung up. He claimed he was with Microsoft and was going to help me fix my computer. He claimed to be getting reports but didn't know what version of Windows I was using. I'm sure he was going to want me to download a sure enough fixer upper.

 

Very well known scam that has been going on for years. In the end, they'll direct you to a web site to install their antivirus then bam! They're in control of your machine.

 

Interesting.
You receive offers of help when it is not needed whether it be real or not and yet when you genuinely need it there is hardly any support at all.

Life does have its oddities.

 

I wonder where they get the phone numbers?

 

I get these calls from time to time. Tell them you don't own a computer and see what happens.

 

I tell them...you called me last week and have already "fixed" my problem, my computer works great thank you bye bye.
