Does this happen after every re-boot? Try re-booting your box and see if the NOD splash screen hangs.

OK - The strange thing has stopped happening :)

I am glad to see the green icon again.
    Probably an incident...

It still happens sporadically for me also! Re-booting the box is the only thing that fixes it! Maybe there a problem with the Nod32 software?

More likely Video Driver or Windows.

    Cheers :D

Although you aparently are no longer experiencing this issue maybe some others have a similar configuration - 511MB of RAM makes me think you have shared video RAM with only 1MB allocated to video. If this is the case and your confident to do so, you could try changing the BIOS settings to share perhaps as much as 64MB since you have 512MB, but I would suggest at lease 32MB as a minimum.

I had this issue myself sometimes when I first loaded XP onto an old Pentium 200 box with 64MB of RAM and a PCI TNT2 video card. I have not had it since, but have come across other who have had this issue with Windows XP on relatively low spec machines. In the past it was not specific to NOD32, but seemed to be random, with over time more icons aparently at random showing up black.

And for a fix? A reinstall sometimes helped for a while. A new PC with better hardware provided for a more permanent solution. Probably not necessary here though. DirectX and drivers would be what I would suggest to update first of all - go for the newest DirectX your can run, and the most recent video drivers - either genuine from your card or motherboard manufacturer, or for some the Omega Drivers have resolved many issues -->www.omegadrivers.net

    Cheers :)
