Stefan, this was on a clean system just reformated that same evening with Kaspersky just installed and doing a first scan immediately after (and yes, i do know about iChecker and iStreams), so i'm afraid that i'll have to disappoint you. ;) This is actually more or less the time it usually takes if we are talking right after a sig-update . Oh, and if you want to real fast with "tagged objects" look at the second screenshot. :)

Wow...I dont recall KAV 4.x being this fast in On-Demand Scanning...so what's there in 5.0 that makes it so much faster than 4.x even in On-Demand scans?

iChecker and iStreams, but remember the second screenshot was made not long after the first so only the 23258 files that had changed were scanned, and no new signatures had been released.

The first screenshot is a better exampel of the actual scan-time in daily use. The highest i've ever seen was around 10 minuttes and with a larger amount of files (as i recall it, between 95000-100000) :)

Yes but if you disable iChecker and iStreams, will KAV 5.0 still be faster than KAV 4.x in On-Demand or will it drop to KAV 4.x levels?

No, on my computer at least it is not the case, a couple more minutes (at worst)were added when i tried it without iStreams.

Can someone tell me how is with BitDefender 8 heuristics. Are they used for On-Access by default or not. I can only toggle them for On-Demand.
Or is this a fail-safe protection,so users cannot disable them for On-Access.
    Thx

at this point i didnt think to much of the bd heuristics . i have heard they were decent but not as good as most. my experience was average with bd. not really a perfect answer but just my thoughts. i have read that they were not spectacular but when hive comes they are supposed to be really very good. we'll see

In current 8 series there are BehavesLike: heuristic detections.

So will BD 7.x and GDATA AVK also get the new heuristic engine?
