BitDefender Antivirus FREE for everyone on Friday 13

2011 is officially released on Monday. I guess they are transitioning their site, in stages, before Monday?

Can anybody please tell the different in BitDefender Antivirus v10 and BitDefender Antivirus 2010 (listed here). Aren't both same? As BitDefender is going to launch their new product version, they are surely redesigning their sites and updating knowledge bases/support.

 

Giving 2011 a try now.. its running a full scan.. will update here if i encounter any slowdowns..

UPDATE: Maybe it was a bad idea to try it out 1st .. It was crippled.. Will wait till the "proper" official one is out..

 

It looked like someone was overly keen earlier on when they listed the 2011 versions on their site ...

I think the wise and proper thing to do is to install using the installer from
the offer, register and wait for a couple of days for the program to update
itself. Like I said before, on my XP its doing great and have not notice any
slowdown( I disabled anti phishing) at all or problems.

i lost my bitdefender antivirus 2010 and its not able to downlowad that agin for the key so could somone host it for me plz

 

Wait for official 2011 release. Probably key will work fine with that version too.

 

No idea what's happened with the 2011. BitDefender.com/co.uk put their "2011" site live over the weekend, then took it down again!

Very strange, I filled the form at http://www.bitdefender.co.uk/site/Pr...s/free24hours/ and got the serial today with download instruction from here:

Once there I took down the only setup available http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/installer/en/bitdefender_isecurity.exe (155.97KB) which turned to download BDIS.MSI

@osip: The offer was valid on Friday only. How you can get serial on Monday?

 

The offer was valid for friday to saturday. I filled saturday morning. Thought I was too late but got it today. I used the bitdefender.co.uk offer.

 

According to BitDefender, they didn't run out of codes, all codes were emailed and were fulfilled.

Are you sure your ISP hasn't filtered it using their server-side anti-spam filters?

Just so everyone knows ClamAV is detecting the Bitdefender Promo setup as a Worm, I reported it to them 2 days ago and still no change last time I checked this morning

 

Now that it's been out for a while how well is the 2011 version running on peoples systems?

 

I think everybody removed it already . The engine is good (look at the test results, and also the fact it is included in a lot of good alternatives: F-Secure, GData etc.) also it added behavioral detection. But the program around it still sucks.

 

It was heavy and freezing up my system..
