check in your mybitdefender account.click on your email & from the dropdown menu select products.a popup window will show status of your licenses.as far as i know everyone who had 677 days key(including those who were some of the first to register) have their status showing as invalid now.

Good thing this thread is about Bitdefender Free where users don't need or care about activations. ;)

but free has severe limitations for many users & until a version to fix these is out a full fledged bitdefender is the better option especially if you are getting it for free.

Just a question. In download sites like Softpedia and Cnet the size of installer of av plus is given 2.3mb. Is this correct? I mean is the installer really 2.3mb? Or like AVG and many other AVs the installer will start the actual download? Or it would update much more mbs? Because BD is not all cloud. It can't be 2.3mb download without a catch right?

Oh wow! Thanks a lot. :D But I really need to know answers to my original question. With low bandwidth connection it's important.

installer size is ~260mb for 32bit & ~300mb for 64bit versions.i wouldn't suggest using bitdefender online installer on anything less than 1mbps(~120KB/s) connection unless you are willing to wait for an hour(or 2.5 if connection is 256kbps).

Dude, this is the BD FREE thread. The installer size for the free edition is nowhere that big............For all of you wanting to discuss anything other than the Free edition you need to find the appropriate thread.

What? Only 15mb? And plus is 260mb! So no catch? After installing 15mb no huge updates? But why the huge difference?

i didn't knew this before so assumed that free edition should also be around same size as paid version except settings options but now after reading this reply from bitdefender rep(i assume) on earlier pages:
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=2161916&postcount=99
free version is basically a cloud AV(something like panda) & does not come with the local signature/definition database hence the low install size.

@DBone,i am assuming by 70mb you mean program folder but what about other locations.e.g.kaspersky program folder size is ~145mb but the definitions/database folder size is ~670mb & it is located in program data directory.

After a second update the BD Free Edtion Folder (this contains all the files) the folder is about 150MB - This is the the biggest it will get

BDFree is cloud so compared to BD AV 2013 has a small size. Is not completly cloud because some definitions are in your C system, total ammount of program + definitions stored is more or less 100MB
I have BD AV 2013 now and is 213 MB but is a fresh install, it will increase in the future

My BD Free just automatically updated to version 1.0.14.889. I didn't notice any obvious changes in the UI - not sure how quarantining will work now (haven't had a chance to test).
