Damn! I really liked this av but if it`s self protection is`nt there then what is the point of it ?

We suddenly feel most unprotected indeed.

    Sorry twins could`nt resist.:D

    Regards Eck:)

Yeah. Pretty much a dead issue considering it's now a "Toolbox" as linked to in the "Home Users" drop down on the BD Home page. No doubt it'll vanish altogether one day...

BTW, anyone who's testing it should sniff your nic and see if it's still trafficking with the cloud services at nimbus.bitdefender.net. That would be quite telling.

I just played a utube video of bd free and it did great...How is it to actually use and then to uninstall. I read bad things on cnet about getting you to buy the paid version and problems getting it all uninstalled.
Quicktest: MSE vs AVG vs Avast vs Bitdefender free detection ratio test...

Read through a few of the previous posts i.e.Freddy`s.

To paraphrase if it`s self protection is not up to par then the whole product is worthless.

    Regards Eck:)

I feel bad. Theres at least two customer PC's out there running BD Free on them. Need to get them back in here and transition them over to Avira free or Panda free.

Same here if only I csn get them to use Sandboxie with Avast file only enabled (hardened).

Though BDF was the best in"set and forget".

I`ve already stuck Comodo on em!

    Regards Eck:)

I've been tempted to try BD Free again but all this talk about them abandoning the program is a deal breaker for me. Besides, I'm sold on Panda.

I'm also surprised they just haven't removed the program altogether from their site. What's the point.

It's the same version but if I remember correctly when I used it last, there was not an option to re-quarantine an item if you restore it from quarantine. Now the same icon is used for both 'restore' and 'block'. I'm not sure if the program is updated with this feature.

I may reconsider using BD Free again IF they decide to finally improve upon it.

They have got to have plans of developing it further if they still advertise the product. One would think.
