Well Bitdefender Antivirus 2011 Final has apperead in the net, places of warez got the final release of Bitdefender Antivirus.

The new Version of this software setup weights around 240 MB !, is extremely big, just like G-data but something caught my atention.

Bitdefender 2011 use an average of 35 mb of your system resources..., when it updates itself takes like 15mb more.
I installed the new version in my PC desktop where I was using MSE + Prevx FB, and impressed that the performance is almost the same, just the boot time increased like 20 seconds, but once its on the computer performance its really good, the only defect is when you run a System Scan, the PC really slow down its performance,,, and the service takes like 30mb more of Ram.

But after all, I´m happy with this new version of BD 2011, is lighter than 2010 and I hope that the detection rates will improve in the next test.

Here I leave some extra info:

New! Redesigned and streamlined installation. You install and configure BitDefender 2011 in one step without having to reboot your PC. It detects viruses before installing BitDefender and cleans your computer to ensure optimal usage from install time.

    · New! Search Advisor warns you about unsafe pages displayed in search results by checking each URL against the BitDefender online URL database.

    · New! Basic and intermediate users can customize the dashboard by adding shortcuts to their favorite sections or actions.

    · Improved! Smart Schedule provides maximum performance with system load analysis so tasks like on-demand scanning are suspended, to free-up resources for other processes, such as a media player or games.

    · Improved! Select the interface that best matches your security needs and knowledge. Basic, Intermediate, and Expert users can select the interface that best suits their needs. Most sections of the product have been redesigned to support basic and intermediate users.

And here I leave some screenshots

Thinking if change Avast! pro 5 for this new BD :D

What about CPU usage of BD processes after few hours of normal activity ?
Does BD have any kind of behavioral analysis or it's base only on heuristic and generic signatures?

    Oki.. I installed 2011

    My spots about it:
-gui crashed once and offer me to submit detalis to devs (and automatically restarted).
-after full scan low cpu usage (1-2%)
-full system scans took 2.5 hours on 400 gb data (athlon 3800)
-in my system it cause a veeeery high ping rate (1000 ms+) so browsing a web was a horror. (disabling real-time protection didn't help after uninstall everything back to normal)

    Back to avast free ;-)

    Regards

Well according to yaslaw's review it feels that BD might have released and unfinished product. Guess I was thinking of giving BDAV 2011 a try:cautious:

Always fun those yearly releases... more GUI changes than detection improvements :D

No, that's the one that was sent out recently for review purposes, so won't be the official final version.

Had a quick test in VMware.

The deep scan took about 15 minutes in windows 7x64, i5 750 and 1024 mb ram allocated to the vmware, and during the scan it asked if I wanted to send one of the vmware files to the cloud scanner or something.

As the languy99 beta video showed on youtube, the ids is still disabled by default as is the script manager and other settings for some reason.

Really don't like how you can't increase the gui window, it looks cramped and the gui on expert view is poor.

When doing a scan, and it detects something, you can't select ignore if it's a fp, you can only select move to quarantine, delete, clean infected file.

I'm going to wait until more reviews is done before installing it on my main pc or not, but the softpedia review seemed promising.
