I'll ask this here since the official beta forums seem pretty much dead.

I filled a bug report on this, but is anyone able to update the signature of BD beta 2 without rebooting their workstation? The installation I have won't see any new updates available unless I reboot, then it sees it and download them .

    Hello all,

We have good news for all beta testers: the beta campaign has been prolonged until the end of this week! New kits are available for download at the following locations:

    - 32b: http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...rity_v11_b3.exe .
    - 64b: http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...rity_v11_b3.exe

In order to test BitDefender Total Security 2008 Beta 3 you will have to uninstall Beta 2 or Beta 1 kits, perform a system restart and install Beta 3 kit (location available above). In case Beta 1 or 2 kits uninstall process fails please use the manual uninstall tool available here: http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...nstall_tool.exe.

    Tasks for beta testing:

    1) Enable Game Mode from Systray and play your favorite game. Let us know if you had problems during the game (we need the name of the game and a full description of the problem).

    2) Perform an Antirootkit Scan and see if you have any hidden files on your system. Let us know if the module did not behave properly.

    3) Perform a Full System Scan and see if your files are infected. Let us know if the module did not behave properly.

    4) Access the settings console and let us know how much time it takes to be loaded.

The list of known issues is available below. Please review this list before submitting a bug. Bugs listed in the known issues area that are submitted on http://beta.bitdefender.com by beta testers will not be taken in consideration for the final beta test ranking.

    Known issues:

    - On Windows Vista when Protected Mode is on, the BitDefender Antiphihing toolbar might crash IE.

    - On Windows Vista 64b systems, blue screens caused by the NDISF driver might occur.

    - BitDefender Security Service might crash when the Antispyware advanced settings are changed.

    - BitDefender Antispam Toolbar is not displayed in Windows outlook Express and Windows Vista.

Use your BitDefender beta tester account (http://beta.bitdefender.com/totalsecurity/login.php) to submit feature requests and bug reports. Please note that your bug reports will be acted upon only in the sense that the bugs will be confirmed, fixed and marked as such in the next release, although you may be asked for additional information. For those of you, who created an account in the previous campaigns, please use the same username and password.

Thank you for your interest in the BitDefender Beta Testing campaign!

    Kind regards,
    The BitDefender Team

I don't get these "Game" modes. I'm gaming with enabled antivirus ever since and i never had any kind of slowdowns or problems. Really don't know what people are doing with their rigs...o_O

game modes are not for performance as much as they are for annoyance (popup which interfears with the game's window)

BitDefender never really caused problems because of popups ever since version 9.

Already filled the appropriate bugs but just wanted to mention that beta 4 seems less responsive than beta 3 and the antipihshing module still seems problematic(i.e. still doesn't seem to work?). Thought beta 4 was supposed to fix that last one.

Yep. Not a whole lot of innovation from BitDefender.

One thing I am wondering is why in the final version the setting "Scan Web (HTTP) Traffic" is turned off in the default settings? In all the beta and the "almost final" version that was available on the ftp site after august 14th it was turned on. Was is causing problem?

not sure about the "almost final" but in the rest of the betas it was always turned off by default, because I always turned it on manually. It doesn't cause any problems for me, so I wonder why it's not turned on by default, too.

The only possibility I could think of that it could slow down the load of websites. I personally also don't have issues with this function enabled.
