Windows Media Player 12 is way better than the older versions of windows media player, now that they added support for more audio formats, it plays and detects basically everything, I used to hate it because it would only detect half of my music library, now it detects everything. I like Songbird though, Ive been using Songbird Portable for my music needs sense I found it 2 weeks ago, I'm very picky when it comes to music players, Songbird is one of the best...
Never thought I would see WMP having more votes than any other two programs combined. WMP 12 though is only for Windows 7 unless there is some work around IIRC.
I tried this thing today...how on earth did you put up with it for ten minutes? It is an utterly atrocious program. The best thing going for it is its pretty darn nicely featured DSP/Equalizer control set. I imported my music, and I swear I wondered, if left by itself, if it could handle organizing a sock drawer. It has no sense of genre, and, while the complete list of songs for a full album would be right there together in some cases, other complete albums would have their songs tossed here and there in no order whatsoever, just randomly listed. Then, as if that didn't annoy the heck out of me, it repeatedly would play a different song than the one I asked it to. Hell, sometimes I'd ask for Metallica and get Paul Simon...exactly what is that about? Now I know there are such things as preferences, default behaviors and settings to mess with. But there is no way on this planet any of that should be the default behavior of any media player. Until otherwise schooled differently, I'm calling this thing a piece of trash.
Though it is not strictly a music player, but on my system, the best sound I get is from PowerDVD 9 Ultra (using TrueTheater Surround). Since last year, it has become my default music/movies player.
I just have like 70 songs or so and it seemed to play them all well. Maybe I have so few songs that I did not notice them needing to be categorized? But I did not have the issue you had with clicking one song and J.River playing another.
You can use K-lite Codec pack with JetAudio? That would be awesome, never tried it since it already plays many files that i've never needed it xD.
yeah but you still need a decent DVD VIDEO DECODER and some others formats that i need in my music lab
JetAudio DVD decoder sucks? Every now and then i watch a movie but that's like once a month. I find it pretty good. I usually use it for music, it got some nice effects and a big EQ
i love the EQ and the fader and for my the best DVD decoder is the POWER DVD but i use mega pack just for all the formats that i need but Jet Audio alone is just enough for the average user who don,t use the PC as music mini studio at home.
I think, the best music player for 2010 should be Foobar. Why? Light, fast, simply (but if you wish could be beautiful), good quality of music, dozens of plugins...etc. Number One for me...but everyone has own taste
anyone try this 1by1 program? It's made by the same company that makes mp3 direct cut- http://mpesch3.de1.cc/1by1.html
After I got all my music correctly tagged and with covers, Zune is the best for me. So easy to navigate and so easy to use - and looks brilliant with coverarts. When my music wasent sorted and tagged correctly I used Songbird - better organising.
I have settled on VLC player. I block any attempt to call out with my firewall, and run it forced sandboxed. Since most of my music is you-tube vids, and I have a tin-ear,the question: "Is it live or is it memorex"? does not come up much. jammin!! (kinda) rat
I am still happy with Windows Media Player. I use only KLite Codec and run everything on WM Player 12.
