I recently bought a new laptop (Win7x64) and I now need to copy about 50GB of data, music and photo files from my old laptop (WinXPx32) to my new one. I'm thinking of copying them from my old laptop to my external USB hard drive and from there to my new laptop. Is there a better way?

    Thanks in advance,
    Wendi

Well then, I guess I may as well get the job started.

    Thanks,

Personally I would just create a share on the destination computer and transfer over the network, especially if you have gigabit on both computers. Saves a step and gigabit speeds should be quite a bit faster than USB 2.0. If you have USB 3.0, not much difference other than an extra step involved.
