Initially we had GeSWall and DefenseWall swapped at our home PC's, but my son like's to try out software. Strange enough GW is simpler to use, but also offers some more advanced control (the file and registry track plus rollback/erase option) he asked for DW.

I liked them both but DW made my comps more slower (tried 1.6x and after i formatted my destop tried 1.73 )

OA works like Prevx with a community rating process to give advices to user not like AE and you can consider OA like a classical HIPS.
Like NeoavaGuard too and wait for the next release (may be in 2 weeks)

That is strange. Could you check out current DefenseWall v2.0 Beta 6- if the slow downs are still there?
