When you visit Malwarebytes.org, it redirects you to sites such as CNET.com and MajorGeeks etc.

Some sites say that CNET.com is unsafe...

Is this true, and what is the most reliable site to use to download Malwarebytes?

    Thanks

    :D

MajorGeeks is the official mirror, it always has the latest version.
Other sites like Download.com, Softpedia and FileHippo.com are also good just don't click on the ads. If you have a browser that blocks ads, then you should have no worries.

    Thanks.:D

I have seen CNET, but right now, from the malwarebytes.org site, the free download version takes you to fileforum, and the purchased version is being handled from the malwarebytes store.

Edit in: littlebits mentioned MajorGeeks. I would feel comfortable downloading from there.

Are you sure that it takes you to FileForum? I just tried the download link on their site and it took me to Download.com.

    Thanks.:D

    Yep. I'm sure.
In fact the link you posted resolves to fileforum.
    Maybe it's a geographical thing.

It looks like this link redirects user to one of 3 download servers: cnet, majorgeeks or betanews. Just keep clicking it to see ;)

mbam-setup.exe files from fileforum and download.com both have identical MD5 checksums.
FWIW, I don't get anything except fileforum when I click thru to download from Malwarebytes.org.
    Nothing surprising to me though.

Just wondering if it is also safe to download Malwarebytes from BleepingComputer, as they provide a link to download the file. Would that be virus free?

    Thanks

It is safe to download from official website which redirects to sites like cnet, majorgeeks etc which are all popular and trustworthy. But make sure the downloaded file has a valid digital signature and to whom it is issued:)

How many sites do you need to download it from, Lucy?
So far about three good ones have been posted.
As for Bleeping Computer providing a link... they don't have software downloads available, do they?
Just go with any of the sites that you are re-directed to upon clicking the download button on the malwarebytes.org site. ;)

And that still sends me to fileforum.betanews.com. :)
Repeat to OP... "Just go with any of the sites that you are re-directed to upon clicking the download button on the malwarebytes.org site." :)

Thanks for the answers everyone, it was a rather amusing post. :D I have decided that I shall use the majorgeeks link for now, but I am new to Malwarebytes so I wanted to ensure the safety of the links provided.

    Thanks for the info everyone

Executive resume - the vendors should provide checksums for their downloads. Digital signatures mean nothing with folks like *cough* Comodo *cough*
