best free real-time protection

    Avast free has an option to scan all WSH script files. Is that something different?

    Probprince, I was having the same problems as you did, dial-up and Bit Defender as the "meh" antivirus solution. As RejZoR was saying, the Avast! UI is so versatile. I dont like the original skins they give you but you can go to their websites and there are a few decent ones. I heard it has a decent scan engine too, considering above all that it is FREE.

    hey since we are on the topic of Avast! here, I have a quick question. Do you guys suggest that I disable the VRDB thingie?

    Nah,leave VRDB enabled (use screensaver database build mode).
    You never know when file infectors will be back... besides, it doesn't use any extra resources if it's enabled.
