I have just used Belarc Advisor.

It has audited the software and hardware.

But I am little lost as to what to do next.

    Can anyone advise.

    Is there a tutoral?

It looks more comprehensive that Speccy.

    Thanks

Did you do the Security audit as well? The benefit of using Belarc Advisor is that it records your software keys - you need to print this out just in case you don't do backups yet, and need to reinstall that particular software to reconstruct your system without the backups.

The security audit will help to guide you to make your security better.

    I just ran the program.

What is the security audit (I am using the free version).

I will run and keep the data.

I don't quite understand how I could reinstall software without backups!

    Best wishes

Ps. I don't seem to be getting email notifications, eventhough I am set for instant email notification!

I used to run Belarc Advisor on a WinXP Pro SP2 OS which I don't run anymore since it hosed in June 2006 (I run Linux from a USB flash drive now). I seem to recall that at the top of Belarc Advisor, there were either buttons or links to the Security tests - if I am not mistaken. I too used the free version. I don't think the email notifications would apply to the freeware version.

When I buy my computers, they come with all of the installation discs for all of the software - OS, etc. If you have a Windows computer it should have come with the OS discs and those for MS Word, etc.

    Good luck with it!

    Thanks for responding.

My comment regarding email notifications relates to this forum (Wilders Forums).

I sent a message to Belarc Advisor's help. I must say they appear to think that I should understand the output. I could not find a tutorial. Did you find one?

    Best wishes.
