I know there have already been some posts previosusly along thse lines. I was wondering what other software would you suggest to help me stay sort of annoymious over the net. I currently use Tor and Privoxy as it suggest to and I run my browser and IM software through it as well. When tor is slow i use JAP. What other software is there that can add to it. Please could you only list free software if possible. Thanks

Just one final question i have been looking at Steganos internet annoymity 7 is this any good or would i be better sticking with Tor and Jap.

    Thanks

    Michael.

Steganos anon 7 pro has some serious problems,
when this is installed it changes your network stack.
And after that some problems can occur with tools that uses them.
One well known issue is with Yahoo Messenger.
If you deinstall Steganos you have to re-install your system
to get the network stack correct.

    Steganos uses a proxy roulette.
Which means that every x minutes (you can set that time period)
    it switches from anonymous proxy.

That seems like a good idea, but if you don't want to leave any traces,
this is NOT a good idea!
The more proxies you use, the greater the risk that you use a fake one
or one that is not completely anonymous.
Or setup by someone (etc.) where you don't want to use their proxy from.

Another thing is that even with the new selection system to select the fastes anon proxy, it slows down the connection terrible.

Another thing is that the prxy roullette can choose proxies,
which don't allow you to visit certain websites.
When you are reading a page, and a minute later (after a new switch)
can't read it anymore can be very irritating.

For test purposes my company have a license for this product,
but it causes to many problems with other network tools.

The support is terrible, when we informed Steganos about where in the software the problems where, and suggested a solution,
we never heard from them, and the problems are still not fixed.
Some of the problems are known since version 5.x

    Better look at another one.

And search through the forum here, there are lots of posts about
    anon proxies.

    Good luck.

BTW i can't recommend you one, because it depends on where you need it for (see previous posts).

    you could use

    www.nomorelimits.net

NoMoreLimits is a free web-based anonymous proxy service which allows anyone to surf the Web privately and securely. :D
